3. We Work Remotely

This site has been active since 2013, and it has become one of the most prominent remote job boards. We Work Remotely claims to have the largest remote work community online, as it garners about 2.5 million views per month.

We Work Remotely has listings from many big tech companies, such as Google and Amazon, and lists jobs in several different categories. The site also provides many great resources for job seekers, including a regularly updated post of the top 100 remote companies hiring.

4. Remote.co

This site was founded by Sara Sutton, who’s also the founder and CEO of FlexJobs. FlexJobs provides listings for not just remote positions, but also location-based jobs with flexible schedules. Remote.co, however, focuses solely on providing listings for 100% remote and work-from-home opportunities.

Remote.co is one of the most popular remote job boards, and you can filter searches for things like freelance and high-paying jobs. The site also has postings from many high-profile employers, such as Amazon and TED.

5. Virtual Vocations

This site is family-owned and operated in the U.S., and it was founded by a stay-at-home mom who was frustrated in her search for legit remote work. The site and job board are free, but you can sign up for additional features with a premium paid membership.

Virtual Vocations currently has about 100,000 remote work listings from 41 different categories. A small company runs the site, and they put their money where their mouth is: the team is entirely remote.

6. Remotive

This site is primarily focused on remote tech jobs, though it also has listings for marketing and sales positions. Remotive brands itself as not only a job board, but also a weekly newsletter, blog, and community for remote workers.

Remotive is free to join, and it helps more than 25,000 remote job seekers, the site says. One cool feature is the ability to search listings by location restraints, allowing users to see if the jobs enable you to work from anywhere.

7. Remote OK

Remote OK is known as one of the better remote job boards, and it tags listings with convenient labels, such as by experience level and even whether the job is tech or non-tech related. You can also filter results on this site by pay scale.

The site considers itself a premier source for digital nomads, and it’s free to use. You can search the listings on the site yourself, sign up to get listings sent to your email inbox, and follow their listings on Facebook or Twitter.

 8. Upwork

If you’re looking for a freelance gig, Upwork is an excellent site to check. Formerly known as Elance, Upwork only provides freelance listings for various types of work, including copywriting, admin support, and customer service.

The competition on the site can be fierce, but it’s possible to find good gigs. To succeed on the site, NerdWallet advises freelancers to set up a robust profile, connect with legitimate employers, and not to sell yourself short when setting your price.

Remote Jobs on the Rise

Eighty percent of employees said in a recent survey they’d like to work from home at least some of the time, according to Owl Labs. The pandemic has accelerated the work-from-home trend and, according to some experts, many jobs may remain remote after the pandemic is over.
