EMPIRE RESUME – (June 3, 2020) Empire Resume, an industry-leading, certified professional resume writing service offering LinkedIn profiles, cover/follow-up letters, job search guidance, and interview coaching, is pleased to announce our 2020 EmpireResume.com Educational Scholarship Program Winner: Mackenzie Sinon from Powder Springs, G.A.

Mackenzie Sinon is currently enrolled at the University of Georgia in Athens, G.A. and is a middle grades education major at UGA. She will start working in schools next semester as part of her teacher preparation program. Mackenzie enrolled in a specialized program that allows her to complete her bachelor’s degree with an accelerated master’s degree. She has career goals to return to Atlanta, where she is from, to teach.

On campus, Mackenzie is an official ambassador for UGA’s Mary Frances Early College of Education. She is also a part of the chapter of Her Campus (a women’s empowerment organization) and works at the campus recreation center as a facility manager. And although she hasn’t much free time left, she also serves on UGA’s recreational sports council that oversees staff events and other changes and updates to the whole recreational sports program at UGA. Mackenzie has said,

“This scholarship will greatly help me pay for school fees and other materials next semester. Thank you so much again!!”

On behalf of Empire Resume, Dr. Phillip Gold (President/Founder/CEO), would like to congratulate Mackenzie Sinon as the winner of the 2020 Empire Resume Educational Scholarship.

“We wish her the utmost success with her time at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA and are so proud to award the amount of $500 to put towards her semester’s tuition and college expenses.”

Out of nearly 5,000 applicants this year, Mackenzie has been carefully chosen and selected based on her essay response, assessment of skills, and academic accomplishments. The decision was also based on creativity, drive, and clarity of writing. The values that Mackenzie possesses speaks through her love of education. She truly is a talented and unique individual. In her scholarship submission she mentions,

“When I think about how college graduates will apply for jobs in 20 years, I can’t help but think that resumes will look very different. Today, it is still commonplace to submit a paper resume. Many employers require you to also submit a resume online, especially if the application is online. I think this will become the norm in the future. I think the use of electronic resumes will become the norm. I see the use of paper resumes being phased out because many employers are moving to all online systems, so I think the submission of paper resumes will be frowned upon as paper records become no more. One major change that I think will be made is the use of videos. I think references will have to provide video recommendations and that job candidates will be required to submit a video that serves as a cover letter to explain their purpose for applying to the position. These videos will make resumes more personal and be able to save time for both the employer and employee by serving as a first interview of sorts. The video would help the employer get a better feel for the potential employee without having to call a formal interview. A final minor change that I see taking place is the inclusion of social media accounts. I think people will start to use social media to create a “brand” for themselves that expresses their views and work. I believe that employers will begin to expect every employee to have social media that is appropriate and professional….”

He holds a B.A. in Communications from The Ohio State University, an M.S. in Instructional Technology, an M.B.A. in Finance, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration, which is why education plays such an integral part of his resume business and life.

“Mackenzie’s essay response and credentials really spoke to me, which is why it’s so pivotal to stress the importance of education, especially during these stressful and unpredictable financial times.”

The COVID-19 Pandemic and Education

2020 Educational Scholarship Winner

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. governments have temporarily closed nearly all educational institutions, including all grade schools, universities, and colleges in order to contain the spread of the fatal coronavirus. These closures not only affected the students, teachers, employees, and families of the educational system, but the businesses, small and large, that relied on these sectors.

With social gathering restrictions put in place, students were forced to leave their campuses and return to their homes. This left little hope for students to get the education that they hoped for and most importantly, paid for. That’s why Empire Resume is honored to help those in need with their educational endeavors. It’s imperative that we give back and promote a positive future and improve self-worth for America’s students.

The Empire Resume Educational Scholarship will be renewed annually, giving all U.S. students enrolled full-time in a college or university the chance to win one of our grand prize scholarships.
